MND-B patrols end with roadside bomb; small arms fire Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD — While providing escort security for another unit, two MND-B Soldiers died and another was wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated north of the Iraqi capital April 4. In recent weeks, this unit has successfully found numerous weapons caches and detained several targeted insurgents within their area of responsibility.
In a separate incident, an MND-B Soldier died when a patrol was attacked with small arms fire in an eastern section of the Iraqi capital. The unit was conducting an area reconnaissance mission when the attack occurred. No other Soldiers were wounded during the attack.
Elements of this unit have recently completed multiple clearing operations resulting in several small arms weapons found. Combined efforts continue in this area to clear and control this section of the Iraqi capital in support of Operation Fardh Al-Qanoon.
Iraqi security forces and Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers continue conducting operations in support of Operation Fardh Al-Qanoon to help set on-going conditions for a stable and self reliant Iraq.
The deceased Soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. -30-
