Paratroopers detain men after firefight
Multi-National Division – Center PAO

KALSU, Iraq
– Paratroopers detained three suspected insurgents when they opened fire on a checkpoint in southern Baghdad last night.
    
Paratroopers from the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division detained the three men when the van they were driving stopped 500 meters from their checkpoint.  
When the paratroopers went to investigate, the men in the van opened fire on them.  In the firefight that followed, one of the insurgents was wounded, but was treated at the scene by a medic.
    
The paratroopers took the men into custody and are holding them for further questioning.
