Iraqi Police headquarters attacked by SVBEID
Multi-National Division – North PAO

Samarra, Iraq
–Terrorists conducted a SVBIED attack Sunday morning on an Iraqi
Police Emergency Battalion Headquarters in Samarra.

The police headquarters came under attack by a car bomb and small-arms fire,
which left 12 police killed and 11 police wounded.

Paratroopers from Company C, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment,
82nd Airborne Division, responded with reinforcements and medical care.

En route to the police headquarters, the paratroopers reacted to small-arms fire
and rocket-propelled grenades. One Coalition vehicle was damaged and two U.S.
Soldiers were wounded.

Of the 11 wounded IPs, six were medically evacuated and five police were
treated and returned to duty.

Additional Coalition force members were dispatched to the ambush site, mortar impact
area, and police headquarters to investigate.
