FOUR SUSPECTED SECRET CELL TERRORISTS DETAINED

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces detained four suspected terrorists including one suspected terrorist cell leader Tuesday morning during raids in northeast Baghdad.

The individuals detained during the raid are believed to be members of the secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training.

During the morning raids four suspected terrorists were detained, one of which received minor injuries.  The suspected terrorist cell leader received minor injuries during the operation and was transported to a military medical facility for treatment.

Intelligence reports indicate that the suspected terrorist cell leader detained during the morning raids is associated with the operational and logistic elements of the secret cell terrorist network.  He is also believed to be involved in the procurement and distribution of small arms.

“Coalition Forces continue to break apart the terrorist networks that attempt to bring instability to Iraq and inflict continued violence on the Iraqi people,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson.
