Iraqi Forces breakup Terrorist Cell in Tikrit
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

TIKRIT
– Iraqi Army Forces conducted an operation near Tikrit June 8 capturing four insurgent cell leaders who are accused of conducting improvised explosive device attacks, sniper attacks and kidnappings against innocent civilians and Iraqi and Coalition Forces.

The four insurgent cell leaders are also allegedly responsible for conducting surveillance of Iraqi and Coalition Forces. The targeted individuals are also connected to a sniper attack in March 07 against Coalition Forces in Bayji, a May 14 sniper attack that wounded one Iraqi Force member and a June 5 sniper attack that wounded one Coalition Force member.

Acting on tips from local citizens, Iraqi Forces successfully entered the target house and captured the four suspected terrorists without incident. Coalition advisors were present for support.

Iraqi Forces also seized a large number of sniper ammunition and paraphernalia, three cell phones, three IEDs, and a large amount of equipment used to make and set IEDs.

No Iraqi or coalition forces were injured during this operation.
