Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs

BALAD – Iraqi security forces conducted an early-morning raid near Fallujah on July 25 capturing two targeted insurgents, one of whom was a insurgent cell leader in the local area.

As coalition force advisers looked on, Iraqi forces raided a target house in a rural area northeast of Fallujah and captured both insurgents without incident.

The cell leader allegedly coordinated and directed improvised explosive device, or IED, attacks against coalition force convoys, mortar attacks against coalition force bases, and ran an insurgent training camp near Samarra.

His accomplice, a member of his cell, is believed to have conducted IED and mortar attacks against coalition forces in the Fallujah area.

Iraqi forces also seized one AK-47 assault rifle.

No Iraqi or coalition forces were injured during the operation.
