IA and CF Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry, received tips from local workers of the location of a VBIED factory and cache in the area of a previously discovered site used in the manufacturing of home-made explosives, IEDs and VBIEDs. “The fact that the community is speaking out against these terrorists and providing information speaks volumes,” said Col. Stephen Twitty, commander, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. “Their trust in the Iraqi Security Forces is obviously growing.” The combined forces searched the area and discovered three incomplete VBIEDs, a motor scooter, over a dozen tanks of acetylene, other chemicals and multiple IED-making materials. “Security forces throughout the province will continue to find and destroy these sites as Coalition Forces support them,” said Twitty. “Together, we will continue to deny terrorists their resources and hiding places.” IA soldiers cleared the site and seized the vehicles and all items in the cache for safe disposal. -30- FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT MULTI-NATIONAL DIVISION – NORTH AT:
