Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — A targeted raid by Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers in the Adhamiyah District June 24
captured two suspected terrorists, including a man believed to have been responsible for an improvised explosive
attack that killed five U.S. Soldiers and an interpreter two days ago, along with one Iraqi woman and three children.

The early morning raid by Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division netted the two suspects,
one pistol, and various insurgent propaganda materials.

Soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment conducted the operation after receiving a tip on the
suspects’ location. After establishing a cordon around the residence, the Soldiers raided the building, where they
captured the suspects without incident.

“The brigade will root out those responsible for attacks against Coalition Forces and innocent civilians in Adhamiyah,” said Lt. Col. David Oclander, executive officer, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. “The willingness of the people to provide us information related to these attacks that kill their own people and destroy their infrastructure is continuing.  It is our hope that the people of Adhamiyah will continue to reject this violence by these extremists, who are murdering women and children.”

The two suspects are being held for further questioning.
