MULTI-NATIONAL FORCE-IRAQ PRESS DESK BAGHDAD, Iraq http://www.mnf-iraq.com 703.343.8790 July 2, 2007 Release A070702a Terrorist mediator in Mosul, nine other suspects detained BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces continued to dismantle the al-Qaeda in Iraq network, detaining 10 suspected terrorists during operations targeting terrorist leaders and suppliers north of Baghdad Monday. Coalition Forces captured an alleged terrorist operative sent by al-Qaeda leaders in Syria to settle leadership disputes within the network in Mosul, where Coalition operations since May 28 have captured or killed 11 senior terrorist leaders. During raids on six buildings in the city, the ground forces also detained five other suspected terrorists for working with the alleged mediator and a cell leader planning attacks in Mosul. West of Taji, Coalition Forces raided a building in search of an individual suspected of selling rockets and armored vests to al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives. They detained four suspected terrorists in the operation. “Al-Qaeda’s network in Mosul is showing signs of great stress, and we will continue to target the leaders and operatives there to ensure a safe future for the people of Iraq,” said Lt.
