Div. Public Affairs Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO CAMP TAJI, Iraq — Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers killed three insurgents following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Baghdad’s Adhamiyah District July 1. The roadside bomb attack killed on Iraqi citizen near the Abu Hanifa Mosque. No MND-B troops were injured in the attack. Following the attack, elements of 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, operating in east Baghdad under the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, observed the insurgents running into an abandoned building. The Soldiers engaged and killed the insurgents. The unit then identified a second IED on the same road. An explosive ordnance disposal team destroyed the roadside bomb in a controlled detonation, preventing further death or injury to Adhamiyah residents. “Despite these types of attacks the Blue Spaders (1-26th Infantry) are currently in the area and working with Iraqi Security Forces and the government of Iraq to protect the Iraqi people from the reckless terror of insurgents,” said Lt. Col. David Oclander, the executive officer of the 82nd Airborne Division’s 2nd BCT.
