Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 20070704-12 July 4, 2007 Iraqi Security Forces Detain Insurgent Religious Leader in Mosul Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces detained an alleged insurgent religious leader in the Mosul area July 3. He is responsible for the planning of attacks in the Mosul area on Iraqi and Coalition Forces. With coalition advisers present for support, Iraqi forces raided several residences in a Mosul neighborhood and captured their primary target without incident. Three other suspicious individuals present during the raid were also detained. The primary target of this operation is alleged to be an insurgent religious leader in Mosul and plays a significant role in planning attacks on Iraqi and Coalition Forces. The insurgent group is alleged to have ties with extremist groups.
