Five EFPs uncovered in eastern Baghdad

FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq  — Soldiers with the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, uncovered five arrayed Explosively Formed Projectiles in the eastern Baghdad New Baghdad District July 5.

Soldiers from Company A, 2nd Brigade, Special Troops Battalion found the arrayed EFPs and called in an explosive ordnance disposal team to detonate them in place. 

Earlier that day, an improvised explosive device detonated near residential housing in the Rusafa District of eastern Baghdad, wounding an Iraqi woman. She had heard a noise outside her house and when she went out to investigate, the IED exploded.

Soldiers with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery, and Iraqi Security Forces responded to the scene and transported the victim to Medical City for treatment.
