Iraqi Army, U.S. Special Operations Forces, detain suspected insurgents near Taji
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

FALLUJAH – Iraqi Army Forces and U.S. Special Operations Forces conducted a series of raids Aug. 3, detaining two suspected insurgents believed to be members of an al Qaeda in Iraq cell operating in and around the Taji area.
 
With U.S. Special Operations Forces present as advisers, Iraqi Soldiers detained the two suspects without incident at a targeted residence northwest of Taji. Four assault rifles, numerous rounds of ammunition and multiple identification cards were also seized during the operation. 
 
The detained individuals are suspected members of an al Qaeda in Iraq cell believed to be responsible for planning improvised explosive device attacks, smuggling weapons and facilitating foreign fighters in and around the Taji, Karma, Nasser Wa Salaam and Dra Dijla areas.
 
No Iraqi Army or U.S. Special Operations Forces members were injured during this operation.
