Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 20070909-03 September 9, 2007 Tuz tribal leaders sign reconciliation agreement Multi-National Division – North KIRKUK, Iraq – Three tribal leaders responsible for villages in the Tuz area signed a peace agreement at Forward Operating Base Warrior, committing to reconciliation efforts, in Kirkuk province, Aug. 31. The tribal leaders, Sheik Sami Abdallah al-Bayati, Sheik Faleh Hassan Kargholi and Sheik Shalal Abed al-Shawi, having oversight of nearly 20 villages in the Tuz area, agreed to cooperate and support each other fighting terrorism, while passing information onto Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces. They also agreed to abide by the law, resolve issues between tribes through diplomacy and limit the use of weapons to only government-sponsored forces such as ISF. “The meeting was very successful and will go a long way towards bringing peace and prosperity to the villages near Tuz. These tribal leaders have stepped forward and committed to security and stability in their region,” said Col. Patrick Stackpole, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, who attended the signing. “This is a significant moment for the citizens of northern Salah Ad Din province.” They were joined by Maj.
