Female suicide bomber kills 2, wounds 6 (Zaab)

KIRKUK, Iraq – An Iraqi woman detonated a suicide vest in a small crowd in the Kirkuk Province killing two Iraqi citizens and wounding six, including a Coalition force Soldier March 13.

The bomber detonated herself in the village of Zaab, approximately 50 miles southwest of Kirkuk, following a city council meeting.

The Soldier who sustained minor wounds was treated at the scene.

“This is another tragic example of the barbaric tactics that al Qaeda uses to intimidate Iraq’s citizens and shows their disregard for life,” said Col. David Paschal, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division commander.

“The city council meeting was to address the needs of rebuilding the community and al Qaeda wanted to destroy it. This community has come together as one to resist the terrorists. My Soldiers stand shoulder to shoulder with them as we work together to bring those responsible to justice,” Paschal said.
