Iraqi Security Forces battle insurgents in al Kut
Multi-National Division – Center PAO

AL KUT, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces responded to enemy gunfire in the city of al Kut March 25.

In the city, fighting broke out in areas known as criminal strongholds, several hours after a curfew was imposed by ISF.

“The security situation is calm but tense, and the Iraqi Police have always maintained control,” said Col. Peter Baker, commander of the 214th Fires Brigade. “Initial reports of violence were exaggerated. Shots were fired and attacks on Coalition forces did occur, but the ISF security posture remains unchanged.”

The attacks against Coalition forces resulted in no damages or injuries.
