Aerial weapons team kills mortar team (Baghdad)

Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD – A Coalition forces aerial weapons team killed two criminals and a
destroyed a mortar tube at approximately 11:15 a.m. April 8.

These criminals fired two mortar rounds at Coalition forces in northeast Baghdad.

Moments later, an unmanned aerial vehicle observed the two criminals covering the tubes with a tarp and then hiding behind an adjacent building.

The AWT killed the criminals with one Hellfire missile.

The team fired a second Hellfire missile destroying the mortar tube.

“The quick and precise actions of Coalition forces disabled further violence on the Iraqi people,” said Maj. Jacqueline Patten, spokeswoman for Multi- National Division Baghdad. “We will continue to engage those who commit violent acts against the innocent, ignoring al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr’s ceasefire pledge.”
