Coalition forces capture suspected Special Groups criminal in Rashid

BAGHDAD – Coalition forces continued their dismantling of the Special Groups ring in Baghdad Tuesday, after capturing a suspected outlaw in the Rashid district.

Based on intelligence information from an operation conducted in mid-April, Coalition forces targeted an alleged Special Groups leader suspected of coordinating and conducting attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces in southwest Baghdad.

Coalition forces approached the targeted individual’s location where they detained one suspected outlaw without incident.

“Coalition forces will continue to target these criminal leaders and networks to prevent them from harming the Iraqi people,” said Maj. John Hall, MNF-I spokesman.
