MND-B Soldiers kill 2 militants, seize weapons
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO


BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers killed two criminals and seized two weapons caches during operations May 29-30 in Baghdad.
 
Soldiers from 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, discovered four 60 mm mortar rounds, a 155 mm projectile, three 122 mm projectiles, two 130 mm projectiles, a 107 mm rocket, a 120 mm projectile and a 105 mm projectile, at approximately 3 p.m. north of Baghdad.
 
Soldiers from 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division seized three Katusha rockets; five 50 mm mortar rounds; 1,000 dishka rounds; two rocket-propelled grenades; and 1,000 7.62mm rounds at approximately 5:50 p.m. northwest of Baghdad.
 
In the Amin area of New Baghdad, an aerial weapons team observed criminals digging a hole that had been started the previous night. The hole was at the location where a previous improvised-explosive device had been emplaced. The criminals were also observed digging a trench, which is commonly used to lay a command detonation wire. At approximately 12:50 a.m. May 30, the AWT fired three hellfire missiles and killed two criminals.
 
“Our Soldiers continue to conduct operations throughout the Baghdad area to take these weapons off the streets and safeguard Iraqi civilians,” said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, a spokesman for MND-B and the 4th Infantry Division.
