18 killed, 80 injured in Mosul VBIED attack
Multi-National Division – North PAO

MOSUL, Iraq – A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated along a crowded street killing 18 and injuring 80 in the Bab Al Toob neighborhood of Mosul,June 26.

One Iraqi police officer and 17 local nationals were killed. Nine police and 71 local nationals were injured in the attack.

Iraqi Security Forces, emergency responders and Coalition Forces arrived at the scene to assist with medical care.

The dead and wounded were evacuated to nearby hospitals.

“Today’s tragic attack serves as a reminder that insurgents are only interested in taking the lives of innocent people who want to live in peace,” said Maj. Gary Dangerfield, a spokesman for the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
