Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 20080704-11 July 4, 2008 ISFs, ISOFs detain seven suspected Special Groups criminals in two separate operations in Amarah Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces and Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured seven suspected Special Groups criminals in Amarah over the past week in two different operations. In one operation, the Baghdad National Emergency Response Unit simultaneously entered three houses, capturing five suspected Special Groups criminals. The Ministry of Interior had issued warrants for the arrest of the suspects accused of financing other Special Groups members and carrying out attacks in Amarah three months ago. “This operation continues to support the GOI’s effort to disrupt and neutralize criminal leadership that remained in the area after successful ISF operations in Amarah,” said LTC. Neil Harper, a Multi-National Corps – Iraq spokesperson. During a separate operation, ISOF captured two individuals suspected of being Iranian surrogates who had warrants for their arrest.
