Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 200807016-06 July 16, 2008 Baghdad National ERU, IA capture five suspected Special Groups criminals in separate operations Multi-National Corps – Iraq BALAD, Iraq – The Baghdad National Emergency Response Unit and the Iraqi Army captured five suspected Special Groups criminals in two separate operations around central Iraq July 12-13.
In Ad-Diwaniyah, IA captured a suspected Special Groups criminal believed to be a financier for Special Groups in the Al-Qadisiyah Province. In another operation, National ERU executed Ministry of Interior warrants and arrested four Special Groups criminals suspected of extra-judicial killings, assassinations, kidnapping, local intimidation and extortion in the Baghdad area. “The series of operations in central Iraq are directed toward weakening the Special Groups criminals’ leadership, and decreasing the organization’s criminal activities,” said Lt. Col.
