Coalition forces apprehend Special Groups suspects (Baghdad)

BAGHDAD – Coalition forces apprehended five Special Groups suspects Sept. 21 during two separate operations in new Baghdad.

Acting on intelligence information, Coalition forces targeted suspected key members of the Khata'ib Hizbollah network in two separate locations.  The network allegedly funnels weapons/materiel into Iraq from Iran, which is then used to conduct attacks against Coalition and Iraqi forces.

Coalition members approached what was believed to be a suspected criminal’s location where they entered the building and apprehended the suspect and three other associates.  The suspect had in his possession, $1,800, a nine-millimeter hand gun, an AK-47 and numerous passports.  The alleged criminals were detained without incident.

In a nearby location, other Coalition forces apprehended another individual, who was also an alleged Special Groups member. The suspect was detained without incident.

Coalition and Iraqi forces are rounding up Special Groups criminals from around the country in order to bring stability to Iraq and its people.
