Tip leads IA to large weapons cache in Sadr City
Multi-National Division – Baghdad BAGHDAD – A tip led Iraqi Army soldiers to the largest and most serviceable weapons cache since the completion of a barrier wall in Sadr City Oct. 20. Based on information from a source, soldiers serving with the 3rd Battalion, 42nd Brigade, 11th Iraqi Army Division, seized the cache in the Sadr City district of Baghdad at approximately 4:30 p.m. The munitions included two 72.5 mm rockets, two 64 mm rockets, 15 explosively formed penetrators of various sizes, a directional fragmentary improvised explosive device, eight Iraq-manufactured grenades, six grenades, a 60 mm mortar round, a MP-1B fuse, 36 OG-7 40 mm grenades, six PG-7 expelling charges, seven PG-7 85 mm grenades, a OG-9 73 mm projectile, 11
PG-9 73 mm heat projectiles, two 75 mm grenades, five PG-7G 85 mm grenades, three PG-7M 70 mm grenades, 50 electrical blasting caps and various IED components. “The Iraqi Army continues to show their increased capability in safeguarding the citizens of Baghdad,” said Lt. Col.
