Multi-National Corps – Iraq Public Affairs Office, Camp Victory APO AE 09342 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RELEASE No. 20081024-01 Oct. 24, 2008 ISF captures 8 suspected terrorists in operations throughout northern Iraq Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO BALAD, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces captured eight suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorists during separate operations throughout northern Iraq Oct. 21-22. On Oct. 22 in Tikrit, Salah ad Din Special Weapons and Tactics captured a suspected AQI cell leader. The cell leader is believed to be responsible for emplacing improvised explosive devices, torturing innocent civilians to death, and providing early warning to insurgents regarding Coalition and Iraqi forces operations. In an operation in western Mosul Oct. 21, Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured four suspected AQI cell members operating in the Hay Al Tinek neighborhood. The cell members are believed to be responsible for conducting assassinations, kidnappings for ransom, and IED attacks against ISF. During a separate operation Oct. 21, ISOF captured three suspected AQI terrorists in eastern Mosul responsible for IED and vehicle-borne IED attacks. One of the individuals is believed to have conducted more than 12 attacks since July 2008. “These operations show the ability of Iraqi Security Forces to repeatedly capture criminals who undermine the security of Iraq,” said Lt.
