Dedication and opening of Col. Adnan Depot Distribution Center

TAJI, Iraq – Senior Iraqi and Coalition officials gathered here Dec. 4 to mark the opening of the Col. Adnan Depot Distribution Center.

The facility provides a central point for receiving and shipping materiel and equipment entering and leaving the Taji National Supply Depot. This control point helps with inventory control and tracking supply shipments.

The distribution center was named in memory of Iraqi Col. Adnan, the Officer-in-Charge of ammunition and weapons at the TNSD, who died of natural causes in August.

The $11.5 million project included the renovation of seven warehouses, a joint effort between the Coalition Army Advisory Training Team, Logistics Directorate (J4), and Engineering Directorate (J7) of the Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Although the project was Coalition-led, “they [Iraqis] are completely in control of operations,” said U.S. Army Col. Tim Fucik, Senior Advisor to the TNSD from MNSTC-I’s CAATT.

Five of the renovated warehouses will be used for the receipt, staging and shipment of materiel and equipment. The remaining two were converted into administrative offices for the transportation company and into billeting for the Iraqi Soldiers working there.

The project also included two concrete pads for containerized storage, a 250KW generator enclosed in a sound-proof enclosure to baffle the noise from nearby office space and multiple measures to ensure the security of the materiel and equipment.
