DSN: 318-852-1332 IRAQNA: 0790-194-0270 Camp Dublin Opens New Clinic for Federal Police BAGHDAD – A grand opening for a new clinic at Camp Dublin took place here Aug. 19 to celebrate the additional medical support that is now available to the Federal Police and emergency response brigades. The clinic facility at Camp Dublin will support up to 2,000 students at the Federal Police Training Center as well as some tenet units at Camp Dublin, such as emergency response brigades. The clinic will provide an important tool in the fight against terrorism by allowing students to get medical help and trauma care right on the spot where they are working, living and training. Minister of Interior Dr. Ibrahim Masan Khal hosted Iraqi Federal Police Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Adnon Ofan Ali and U.S. Army Col. Dr. Bernard DeKoning, medical advisor form Iraqi Training Advisory Mission, in cutting the ribbon. “We have waited a long time for this medical clinic to be ready to open,” said Adnon. “We are very happy to see the achievements that have come as a result of us working together with the friendly side.” The clinic is rated as a Level 1 clinic. It can now receive patients, perform trauma care, dispense medication through its pharmacy, assess patient needs, and more. There is a plan to add dental services and x-ray services to the facility in the near future. This will be when the clinic is ready to achieve Level 2 status. “It is an honor for us to be here,” Col. DeKoning said. “I want to complement the doctors and staff for working to open this clinic. In the Army we have an old saying, ‘One Team…One Fight.’ Today we are working together in that tradition.” The clinic facility at Camp Dublin will support up to 2,000 students at the Federal Police Training Center as well as some tenet units at Camp Dublin, such as emergency response brigades. The clinic will provide an important tool in the fight against terrorism by allowing students to get medical help and trauma care right on the spot where they are working, living and training. The U.S. forces have worked very closely with the Iraqis in getting this facility open and ready for use. This is just one more way that the Security Agreement signed between the U.S. and Iraq is being implemented. -30- FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS RELEASE, CONTACT THE MULTI-NATIONAL SECURITY TRANSITION COMMAND – IRAQ PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE BY E-MAIL AT
