ISWAT arrests alleged al-Qaeda MBIED maker

Multi-National Corps-Iraq

RAMADI, Iraq – Fallujah Special Weapons and Tactics personnel, with U.S. forces advisors, arrested a suspected al-Qaeda motorcycle-borne improvised explosive device maker and two associates Oct. 30 in the vicinity of Fallujah with a warrant issued by the Central Court of Al Kharkh.

The suspect is an alleged AQI financier who actively constructs and traffics MBIEDs for use against Iraqi Security Forces. The suspect and his associates have been linked to previous IED attacks against ISF and U.S. forces and have provided financial support to insurgents.

Fallujah SWAT has information indicating he was in the process of planning additional attacks in and around central Iraq prior to his arrest.
