Weapons cache discovered in Taji

Multi-National Corps-Iraq

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces and U.S. troops seized a weapons cache and detained three suspects in Taji, north of Baghdad, Nov. 11. 
 
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, partnered with Soldiers from the 36th Iraqi Army Brigade, discovered six AK-47s, five AK-47s magazines with 92 rounds, one PKC machine gun with 176 rounds, one bolt action rifle, three 40mm Iraqi grenades, one 70mm Bulgarian rocket, five 85mm Bulgarian rockets and seven PG expelling charges.  The joint patrol also detained three individuals at the site of the cache. 
 
American explosive ordinance technicians safely transported the weapons to a nearby headquarters for disposal.  The three detainees were also safely transported for further questioning.
