ERB arrests alleged extremist leader in Baghdad
Multi-National Corps-Iraq PAO

TIKRIT, Iraq – Elements of the Emergency Response Brigade, advised by U.S. forces, arrested a suspected terrorist leader linked to numerous terrorist groups Nov. 16 in Baghdad.  The suspected terrorist was arrested with a warrant issued by the Criminal Investigative Court of Al-Kharkh.

The terrorist is suspected of leading extremist groups believed to be responsible for murders, weapons smuggling, kidnapping and using explosively-formed penetrators against Iraqi Security Forces. EFPs are specialized forms of roadside bombs which direct a blast of molten metal at their targets.

The ERB entered the residence and positively identified the suspect after securing the house. Constables also collected evidence from the house after the arrest.
