ISF arrest two suspected AQI members

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces arrested two suspected members of al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) during two joint security operations conducted today in Baghdad and Baqubah.

ISF and U.S. advisors searched a building in western Baghdad for an alleged AQI leader who is also suspected of facilitating vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks against civilians and security forces in the capital city.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, ISF arrested a suspected criminal associate of the warranted individual.

In a second operation conducted in Baqubah, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched a building for a warranted individual believed to be a member of AQI.

After questioning those within the building, the security team positively identified one of the individuals as the warranted suspect and Iraqi Police arrested the individual without incident.
