Iraqi Army Force Members Captures Illegal Armed Group Leader
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

BAGHDAD
– 6th Iraqi Army Division Forces, with Coalition advisors, captured the cell leader of an illegal armed group during an operation Jan. 7 in the Salaam district of northern Baghdad. The cell leader is responsible for coordinating and conducting kidnapping and murder attacks of Iraqi Security Force members and civilians.
    
The cell leader was involved in setting up illegal checkpoints used as a means to abduct Iraqi civilians. The cell, led by the detained individual, is also suspected of conducting improvised explosive device and car bombing attacks against Iraqi Security Force members and civilians in the area.
    
There was minimal damage done to the objective. No Coalition force members, Iraq civilians or Iraqi Army Force members were injured during the operation.
