The paratroopers from Company A, 325th Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, were manning a vehicle check point when the suspects attempted to pass through. A search of the vehicle uncovered four dead bodies in the bed of their truck. The bodies had bullet wounds to the back of the heads and other signs of execution-style killings. Paratroopers have been living and operating in the Sha’ab area since early February in an effort to re-impose the rule of law and contain the sectarian violence that has plagued the city. One of their top priorities is to put an end to extra-judicial killings. The suspects were detained and will face prosecution. The bodies were turned over to the Iraqi police. -30- FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT MULTI-NATIONAL DIVISION – BAGHDAD PUBLIC AFFAIRS NCO IN CHARGE, MASTER SGT. DAVID LARSEN BY E-MAIL AT:
